AI Visibility

AI Visibility is where you see whether shoppers who ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI, Gemini, or Shopify Agentic for products like yours are being pointed to your store — and what to fix when they aren't.

Open it from AI Visibility in the sidebar. The page subtitle puts it simply: When shoppers ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google, or Gemini for a product like yours, do you show up? Here's where you're likely being recommended, and where to close the gap.

Your AI visibility score

At the top of the page, Your AI visibility shows:

  • A 0–100 catalog readiness score across your active products (Good / Fair / Needs work)
  • How often you appear on each assistant: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI, Gemini, and Shopify Agentic
  • How those numbers were produced — Live, Forecast, Catalog, or Monthly (see How results are measured)

If a one-time setup problem is blocking assistants from reaching or reading your store, the score can be capped. Use Fix in Visibility Foundations to clear those blockers first.

Scores and re-scores do not use optimization credits. Credits are only used when you generate content, refresh buyer questions, or run a live scan.

The four tabs

1. Visibility Foundations

One-time setup checks. If assistants can't reach or understand your store, nothing else counts — failing checks cap your score.

Checks are grouped as:

  • Can assistants reach you? — store reachable, AI crawlers allowed, listed in Shopify's agentic catalog, ready for agent checkout, sitemap submitted to Bing
  • Can they understand you? — llms.txt published, product data machine-readable, brand identity clear
  • Can they trust your offer? — delivery promise set, reviews readable

Where a check fails, the app walks you through the fix (for example robots.txt, delivery promise, or brand details).

2. Boost AI visibility

The highest-impact catalog fixes, ordered by impact. Run a free catalog scan first so Keystone knows which checks are failing on your products.

Typical priorities include:

  • Add barcodes and SKUs
  • Set a Shopify product category
  • Add questions and answers to your products
  • Describe your product images (alt text)
  • Answer buyer questions in your descriptions
  • Show stock, shipping and returns clearly
  • Expose your reviews to assistants

Open a priority to work through the affected products and close the gaps.

3. Buyer questions

The real questions shoppers ask AI about products like yours — and, for each one, which assistants recommend you.

  • Generate your first set of questions for free
  • Questions are grouped as Discovery, Comparison, and Specific use case
  • Each assistant shows whether you are Recommended, Mentioned, or Missing
  • From a question you can fix a content gap, generate an article, refine the answer, or check details

Run a live scan (uses credits) asks those questions on the assistants and replaces forecast estimates with measured results. ChatGPT and other LLMs are asked three times per question; Shopify Agentic uses one catalog search per question.

Buyer questions use the selling markets you set in onboarding (or Settings → Store context). When you choose specific regions and countries, AI Visibility names those markets when it asks each model. If you sell around the world, it uses your Shopify billing country instead. See Onboarding.

4. Competitors

  • See who wins instead — stores that take the spot when you are missing from a live scan
  • Competitor AI leaderboard — share of voice from monthly web AI data
  • Competitors to compare with — an editable list used for the monthly leaderboard

How results are measured

At the bottom of the page, How these results are measured explains the signals:

SignalMeaning
ForecastEstimated from your content until a live check runs. Updates for free whenever you improve a product.
LiveReal answers: each question is asked 3 times per assistant. ChatGPT runs with web search.
CatalogShopify Agentic catalog search (once per question).
MonthlyPresence across the web's AI answers (SE Ranking), refreshed monthly.

After you fix a product, AI answers typically take 1–3 weeks to update. Shopify's agent catalog usually updates within days.
