Onboarding

When you first install Keystone AI SEO from the Shopify App Store and open it in your Shopify admin, you'll land on the dashboard with a guided onboarding card front and center. This card walks you through three quick setup steps so the app is ready to start optimizing your store's SEO.

What You'll See

The onboarding card appears automatically for all new users. It contains three numbered steps, each with a clear call-to-action button. A progress indicator shows which steps you've completed and which are still pending.

Step 1: Optimise Your First Product

Pick a product and see how Keystone improves it for AI search. This step lets you experience the power of AI-driven SEO optimization firsthand, before setting up any automated workflows.

Click the "Choose a product" button on the onboarding card to select a product from your store. Keystone will run it through AI-powered optimization and update its SEO fields — titles, descriptions, meta tags, FAQs, and image alt text.

What to expect

  • You'll select a single product from your store to optimize.
  • Keystone's AI will analyze the product and generate improved SEO content.
  • You can review the results and see exactly what changed.
  • This gives you a hands-on preview of what Keystone does, so you can feel confident before scaling up.

Step 2: Add FAQs to Your Storefront

Help ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google and LLMs alike answer questions about your products. This step adds an FAQ section to your product and article pages in your Shopify storefront. When Keystone generates FAQ content for your items, this block is what displays those questions and answers to your customers — and to search engines and AI tools.

Click the "Enable FAQ block" button to open the Shopify theme editor.

How to add the FAQ block in the theme editor

  1. The theme editor will open to your product page template (or article template).
  2. Look for the option to Add block or Add section in the left-hand sidebar.
  3. Find the Keystone FAQ block in the list of available blocks.
  4. Add it to your desired position on the page — most merchants place it below the product description or at the bottom of the page.
  5. Click Save in the theme editor to publish the change.

Why this matters

Without the FAQ block enabled, any FAQ content generated by Keystone won't be visible on your storefront. The AI will still generate the content and store it, but customers and search engines won't see it until the block is active.

Tips

  • You only need to do this once per theme. If you switch themes later, you'll need to re-add the block to your new theme.
  • The FAQ block is designed to match your theme's styling automatically, so it should look consistent with the rest of your store.
  • If you use a custom theme and the block doesn't appear in the editor, reach out to Keystone support for help.

Step 3: Automate Your Optimisations

Set up a workflow so Keystone keeps your content optimised automatically. A workflow is an automated task that takes a set of products or articles, runs them through AI-powered optimization, and updates their SEO fields on a recurring schedule.

Click the "Create workflow" button to navigate to the Workflows page. From there, you can set up either a product workflow or an article workflow.

What to expect

  • You'll choose a name for your workflow, select the products or articles you want optimized, pick which SEO fields to improve, and decide when the workflow should run.
  • The entire process takes just a few minutes.
  • Workflows repeat every 30 days automatically, keeping your SEO fresh without any manual effort.

Finishing Onboarding

Once all three steps show as complete, a "Finish Onboarding" button appears at the bottom of the card. Click it to dismiss the onboarding card and reveal the full dashboard experience, including your quick-link cards and help resources.

Can I skip onboarding?

Yes. There's an X button in the top corner of the onboarding card. Clicking it dismisses the card immediately, even if you haven't completed all steps. You can always optimize products, enable the FAQ block, and set up workflows later through the normal navigation.

Can I redo onboarding?

The onboarding card is a one-time experience. Once dismissed, it won't reappear. However, everything it guides you through is accessible from the sidebar at any time — manual optimization from the Manual Optimization page, workflows from the Workflows page, and the FAQ block from your Shopify theme editor.

What Happens Next

After onboarding, you'll land on the Dashboard, which serves as your home base for navigating the app. From there, you can jump into your workflows, explore manual optimization, or get help from the Keystone team.
