Internal Name

Use an internal name to identify options in the admin panel without changing what customers see.

Overview

Internal Name is an optional field that replaces the Option Label in your Option Set's options list. It helps you organize and identify options in the admin panel while keeping the original Option Label visible to customers on your storefront.

Admin Only

Internal Name only appears in the app's admin interface. Customers always see the Option Label.

How It Works

Without Internal Name:

• The Option Label appears in both the admin options list and on the storefront

With Internal Name:

• The Internal Name appears in the admin options list for identification
• The Option Label still displays to customers on the storefront

Setting an Internal Name

1. Navigate to Option Sets page
2. Open the option set containing the option
3. Click on the option you want to edit
4. Click on the "Advanced Settings" below the option label input
5. Enter text in the Internal Name field
6. Click Save in the contextual bar

The internal name will now appear in your options list instead of the label.

When to Use Internal Names

Better Organization

Use internal names when managing multiple similar options:

• Internal Name: "Gift Wrap - Holiday 2024"
• Option Label: "Gift Wrapping"

Clearer Identification

Add context for options that have generic labels:

• Internal Name: "T-Shirt Size Selection"
• Option Label: "Size"

Version Control

Track different versions of similar options:

• Internal Name: "Engraving v2 (Updated Pricing)"
• Option Label: "Custom Engraving"

Multi-Language Stores

Note the language or market in internal names:

• Internal Name: "Color Selector - English Store"
• Option Label: "Color"

Best Practices

• Use descriptive internal names that help you quickly identify options
• Include relevant details like version, purpose, or market
• Keep Option Labels customer-friendly and concise
• Internal names can be longer and more detailed than labels

Example

Scenario: You have multiple size selection options for different product categories.

Internal Name	Option Label (Shown on Storefront)
Apparel - Size Selection	Size
Footwear - Size Selection	Size
Accessories - Size Selection	Size

In the admin options list, you see "Apparel - Size Selection", "Footwear - Size Selection", etc., making it easy to distinguish them. Customers only see "Size" on the product pages.
