Placeholder

Add placeholder text to option fields to guide customers on what information to enter.

Overview

Placeholder text appears inside option input fields as light gray text before customers start typing. It disappears when customers click into the field and begin entering text. Use placeholders to provide examples or instructions without taking up extra space on your product page.

To add placeholder text:

1. Navigate to Option Sets page and open your option set
2. Click on the option you want to edit
3. Click on Advanced Settings below the option label
4. Enter your placeholder text in the Placeholder field
5. Click Save in the contextual bar

Examples:

• For "Name" field: "Enter your name"
• For "Date" field: "MM/DD/YYYY"
• For "Custom message" field: "Write your message here (max 100 characters)"

Customize Appearance

You can change the placeholder text color in Customization > Colors tab to match your store's branding. Learn more about color customization.
