Sidekick for Loyalty
Overview
Sidekick is Shopify's built-in AI assistant inside your store admin. Keystone Loyalty Rewards connects to Sidekick so you can ask questions about your loyalty program in plain language - and get answers right there in the conversation, without leaving Sidekick to dig through dashboards and analytics pages.
Instead of opening the app and navigating to find a number, you simply ask:
- "How is my loyalty program doing?"
- "What's my redemption rate?"
- "How are members spread across my VIP tiers?"
- "Who are my top redeemers?"
- "How did my last campaign perform?"
Sidekick understands the question, pulls the answer from your live loyalty data, and replies in everyday language - using the exact same numbers you'd see on the dashboard and analytics screens.
Key Benefit: Understand the health of your loyalty program and decide what to act on, in plain language, without digging through dashboards.
How It Works
- Open Sidekick (the ✦ icon, top-right of your Shopify admin).
- Ask a question about your loyalty program in natural language.
- Sidekick picks the right loyalty tool for your question.
- Keystone returns the live answer from your program data.
- Sidekick replies in plain language, with the numbers behind it.
Read-only by design
Sidekick's loyalty tools are read-only. They look things up and report back - they never change your program, customers, or settings. The only exception is the navigation helper, which can open the right page in the app for you to make changes yourself.
What you can ask
Sidekick can answer two broad kinds of questions about your loyalty program.
1. "What do I have set up?" (Search & status)
Look up the things you've configured - rewards, campaigns, tiers, earning rules, customers - and check the overall state of your program and plan.
| You can ask | Sidekick uses |
|---|---|
| "Find my free shipping reward" / "List my coupon rewards" | search_coupon_rewards |
| "What campaigns do I have?" | search_campaigns |
| "Show me my VIP tiers" | search_vip_tiers |
| "How many points does jane@example.com have?" | search_customers |
| "What are my earning rules and which are turned on?" | search_earning_rules |
| "List my custom rewards" | search_custom_rewards |
| "Show me my gift card rewards" | search_gift_cards |
| "Is my loyalty program active?" | get_program_status |
| "What plan am I on? Do I have feature X?" | get_plan_and_features |
| "Open the campaigns page so I can edit it" | open_loyalty_page |
2. "How is it doing?" (Intelligence & analytics)
Ask about the performance and health of your program. These reuse the same analytics that power your dashboard.
| You can ask | Sidekick uses |
|---|---|
| "How healthy is my program? Members and points liability?" | get_program_health |
| "What's my redemption rate and claim rate?" | get_redemption_rate |
| "How are members distributed across tiers?" | get_tier_distribution |
| "Who are my top redeemers?" | get_top_redeemers |
| "How did my most recent campaign perform?" | get_campaign_performance |

Example prompts
You can ask one focused question, or ask Sidekick to pull several things at once:
"How is my loyalty program doing? Give me my points liability and member count."
"What is my redemption rate and claim rate?"
"Show me my VIP tier distribution - how many members are in each tier?"
"Who are my top redeemers?"
"How did my most recent point campaign perform?"
"Audit my loyalty program - health, redemption rate, tier split, and top redeemers."That last prompt is a one-shot showcase: Sidekick will combine several tools to give you a full snapshot of your program.
Things to know
Start a fresh chat after big changes
Sidekick remembers the available tools per conversation. If your numbers look stale right after a major change, start a new Sidekick chat to refresh.
- Always your live data. Answers reflect your real program at the moment you ask - the same figures as the dashboard and analytics pages.
- Empty states are handled cleanly. If you have no tiers, no redeemers, or no campaigns yet, Sidekick tells you plainly instead of showing an error.
- Plan-gated features are reported honestly. If a feature is locked behind a higher plan, Sidekick says so factually - no sales pitch.
- Points terminology. Sidekick uses the same definitions as the app:
- Earned - points a customer has accumulated.
- Claimed - points a customer has spent to get a reward.
- Redeemed - the reward's discount actually used on an order.
- Balance - points a customer currently holds (earned − claimed, net of adjustments and expiry).

Summary
Sidekick turns your loyalty analytics into something you can simply ask about. From the same chat you already use to run your store, you can check your program's health, redemption rate, tier distribution, top redeemers, and campaign performance - and look up any reward, tier, rule, or customer - all in plain language, backed by your live data.
